Central Christian Students Win Awards

VFW Post 2667 presented awards to students at Central Christian School for their participation in the VFW National Patriot’s Pen Essay Contest and Voice of Democracy Audio Essay Contest.

Students in grades 6-8 participated in the Patriot’s Pen patriotic essay contest by submitting a 300-400 word essay on the theme “How are you inspired by America?”

School Winners were:
1st Place Baylei Barlow
2nd Place Mikalyn Okpara
3rd Place Kathryn Lane

These students received a certificate and a medal with their name, school, name of contest on it. Central Christian also had the 1st Place Post Winner overall from 98 total entries from 8 schools.

The 1st Place winner for Post 2667 is Baylei Barlow. Baylei received a certificate and a monetary award. Baylei’s entry has advanced to District 10 judging.

Students in grades 9-12 participated in the Voice of Democracy audio essay contest. Students had to submit a 3-5 minute recording on this year’s theme of “What are the greatest attributes of our Democracy?”

School Winners were:
1st Place James Trogdon
2nd Place Alivyah Walton
3rd Place Alejandro Laboy

Central Christian had the 3rd Place Post 2667 Winner, James Trogdon. He received a certificate and a monetary award.
