Firefighter of the Year

Firefighter/Paramedic Kyle Allen of the Newnan Fire Department was recently named Firefighter of the Year by VFW Post 2667. Kyle was nominated by Battalion Chief John E Byrom.

Firefighter Allen grew up in Newnan, graduating from Newnan High School in 2007. Upon graduation he knew he wanted to serve his community. He began his career as a Volunteer Firefighter in 2010 and began his Firefighting career in 2011 with the Fulton County Fire Department. He has been with the City of Newnan Fire Department since 2016. He received
his Paramedic Certification in 2017 as well as other certifications including Hazmat Tech, Firefighter I, Firefighter II, Structure Fire Control, Flammable Liquids, and Fire Ground Hydraulics. In 2019 he received a Life Safety Award. In November 2023, his engine responded to a person falling into an elevator shaft. Allen entered the elevator shaft and began treatment of the patient. He was able to stabilize the patient and was instrumental extricating the patient from the elevator shaft.

Chief Byrom noted that he consistently exceeds expectations, as well as being a team player, always willing to lend a hand, always has a positive attitude and takes on additional responsibilities. His exceptional work ethic and dedication to serving the citizens of The City of Newnan make him stand out among his peers.
