Gaeun “Sophia” Lee, a recent graduate of East Coweta High School in Newnan, GA, competed in the VFW Post 2667 Auxiliary Young American Creative Patriotic Art Contest.

Her entry was the Post’s 1st Place Winner.  She advanced to State Level judging where she won 2nd Place in Georgia.  She received her State award at the recent Post meeting with her teacher Patrice Newell in attendance.

Her artwork has been acknowledged by the Korean War Veterans Memorial Ambassador in Washington, D. C. She was given a trip to Washington, D. C. to view the monuments.  She has been commissioned to do a replica of her art entry for the Korean Memorial in Washington, D. C. 

She will be attending the Kansas City Art Institute on a $100,000 Scholarship.
