At the recent VFW Post 2667 meeting Mary Thompson, Teacher, formerly from Ruth Hill Elementary but currently at
Welch Elementary School was presented with a certificate from the VFW National Commander by Past VFW 2667 Commander Jeff Bouchard for her honorable win as the Georgia VFW Elementary Teacher of the Year.

Mary brought along some of her students from the Welch Elementary K-Kids group, sponsored by the Golden K-Kiwanis.

The students had painted rocks to raffle off to the Veterans in attendance. The rocks were to symbolize to the Veterans “You Rock!”

Names were drawn and the students presented each winner with a rock. The Veterans always enjoy the visits from her students.
